we went our separate ways today. hubby had some things to settle and i took the boys to buckingham palace. they were fascinated by lady diana story, i can't remember how she popped up into our conversation and they wanted to see a real life castle - ok, palace. it was easy to get to buckingham palace from bayswater. just take the circle line right to st james park and walk about 10 minutes. because it was easy, i took them. if it wasn't, i would have made other plans.
we got to the palace about 10.30am and i saw that there was to be a changing of the guards within an hour so i texted hubby and told him we'd stick around for that. it was quite crowded and the boys and i agreed not to stay too long. we saw the guards, saw the marching band, saw some horses and they boys were happy. it was getting freezing so once the police started to let the crowd out, we walked towards green park station.
we took the jubilee line to bond street where we were supposed to meet hubby. he was somewhere in oxford street but it took him over an hour to get to where we were. i had time to make a last-minute dash to mothercare (still not happy as there were so many things not available in the boys' sizes) before taking the bus back to bayswater road.
we had lunch and went to whiteley's for a quick stop at sports direct and toys r us. then we went back for the apartment to pack, shower, pray and check out.
we took a taxi to paddington station as we now had 3 luggages to pull and then the heathrow express to heathrow.
check-in and immigration was quick and i had just enough time for my cath kidston fix before we were called to board.
the flight back was great. the boys slept before the plane took off and hubby and i managed to get a few good hours nap after they served dinner (seriously good moussaka!)
alhamdulillah, we landed 20 minutes before the scheduled time and got home at 8pm, back home to a happily jumping and screaming amir & asyraf. how we missed them!
they were good to finish dinner and shower and dress for bed before begging for us to open the suitcase. it was a really short trip and it was only the 4 of us but it was a good trip nonetheless. we didn't tire ourselves too much and we took note of what to see and where to go the next time we find ourselves back in this wonderful town with all 4 boys, insyaAllah.
