i booked us a cruise & koala sanctuary double today. but
last night, we were looking for alternative, seeing the current weather
condition. if it were to rain, a cruise and a sanctuary would not be ideal. we
looked a hop-on-hop-off city tour which came with a river city hopper as a back-up.
when we woke up, Alhamdulillah, the weather was lovely. it
wasn’t raining but was cool and cloudy. we walked over the river via kurilpa
bridge to southbank.
the cruise departed southbank at 10am and reached lone pine koala sanctuary at 11.15am. we were treated to amusing historical stories on brisbane, the river, the houses and all the surrounding.
we were at lone pine sanctuary for two & half hours which was
just nice as the sanctuary wasn’t too big. everything was within reach. we saw
a presentation on koala, birds of prey, looked at crocodiles, bats, reptiles,
koalas, kangaroos, wombats, among other animals.
we walked back to the jetty a little after 1pm as it was
starting to rain. we had a light lunch onboard before departing at 1.45pm. when
we arrived back in southbank at 3pm it was raining heavily.
we took shelter from the rain for a while and walked towards grey
street and the beach once the rain let up. the boys wanted to play in the water
but we didn’t bring their swimwear. we were treated to an hour of pouting and tantrum
throwing.
we walked around the area before settling for dinner at ahmet's on grey street. we walked back to the hotel via the way we came this morning. we were out for ten hours and it was satisfying to see the city via the river and on foot in such a lovely weather.
