Cameron Highlands - Road Trip

we made a last minute decision to bring the boys up to cameron highlands when hubby had an assignment there. initial overnight trip was extended to two at the last minute as there's a possibility hubby would end his assignment late and we not too fond of a late evening ride down.

this is my second time up on cameron highlands, the first was work related and i was hardly out of the hotel. i really don't know what to expect up there, other than strawberry farms and tea plantations, and maybe grab veggies and plants on the way down. unfortunately, we were up following hubby and most of our plans depended somewhat on his schedule.

we started our drive late wednesday, the boys slowly falling asleep after their breakfast all the way to tapah. the ride up on the small road had asyraf and akmal all woozy and throwing up and then falling asleep again. other than that the ride up was pretty smooth.

the scenery was breathtaking (yes, despite how high strung i got because of the winding road). i love the old colonial houses, the fog-gish air, the stalls that came out of nowhere, the waterfalls.

we got to cameron highlands resort, checked in, unpacked and drove to tanah rata town where hubby had his meeting. i took the boys for a late lunch, a walk in town, cross the street to the playground on taman pertabalan tanah rata (which is a real nice place to lepak), short walk to mardi and then back to the shops where we met hubby. the weather was starting to get cold late in the evening and we stopped for hot chocolate at the starbucks while waiting for hubby who had another meeting to attend to.

we then went back to the hotel to pray and freshen up before going across the street to have steamboat. nice quiet place, the golf club, and the food was great. we polished off the steamboat and akmal had a big plate of pasta all to himself.

the next morning, hubby left for work very early while we got up late and had a leisurely breakfast before walking to the nearby strawberry farm. it was unfortunately closed but the boys had a nice time looking at potted plants that were on sale at the farm, they wanted to get some cactus trees for their rooms. we had a nice snack at the cafe in front of the farm before walking back to the hotel.

the boys found the children's playroom during our roam of the hotel and we spent about an hour before checking out and moving to the strawberry park resort about 5 minutes away, where we were to spend our second night. the boys preferred this hotel because they had a room all to themselves.

hubby was due back in tanah rata town late in the afternoon but he wasn't sure of the time so i couldn't really take the boys to another strawberry farm nearby. i drove the boys down after zohor for a late lunch and to pick hubby up. on the way back, we drove up to brinchang but the weather was gloomy and cold, we didn't get down from the car. the boys did get a chance to release their energy at the hotel playground though. we had dinner at the hotel because everyone's a bit cold.

we drove down early morning on friday because hubby had another meeting in town after friday prayers. we stopped by the cameron valley tea house for breakfast. a nice short trip and i loved the weather but i didn't really like the drive up, not good for my heart and stress level. but, insyaAllah, if we were to come back i already have strawberry farm, bee farm, night markets and the boh tea plantation on my list.

this boy was in main pelikat as he threw up twice on the way down
