because we only had 2 full days in tokyo, i had to plan the tourist activities according to section. we were staying at the north-east (ish) side of tokyo so on the first day, i planned for activities a bit further, all the way to shinjuku and shibuya on the west side. on the second day it was nearer home, mainly the mid parts of tokyo.
how our schedule looks like on the first day
when we woke up on wednesday, the sky was cloudy and it looked very gloomy. i planned a day trip to hakone but chose to stay in tokyo instead, afraid the weather would put a damper on the trip.
our first stop of the day was the palace gardens. we took a train from kuramae to otemachi, where we had to walk miles to the 14c-th exit of the station. i had two puffs from my inhaler along the way, it was that far. once we came out we were awed by the view - skyscrappers on one sides and majestic palace with gardens and moats on the other. we only walked around the front section of the garden, not wanting to go too far inside.
from the palace garden, we took the train to onarimon and walked to the tokyo tower via the zojo-ji temple and kumano shrine. then we walked across shiba park, which the boys loved, to akabanebashi station to get to shinjuku.
the boys loved shiba park
i think we were supposed to get off tochomae station and walked from the tokyo metropolitan government building to shinjuku but we got off at shinjuku instead. we saw the government building from afar after we had our lunch at a japanese restaurant outside shinjuku station.
from shinjuku we took the train to shibuya to experience shibuya crossing. we spent an hour people watching and visiting the shops around the area.
we went home and finished off our bang brahim stock as we planned to have dinner elsewhere the remaining 2 days in tokyo.
